Dracula’s Blood Cocktail

A bloody boozy cocktail that will immortalize your guests. Dark rum, whiskey, kahlua, and grenadine create this alluring effect. Dracula’s blood cocktail is a simple potion to sip on while passing out treats or at costume parties.

My first year creating Halloween cocktails, and I have to say It has been fun! So, I am busting out a few festive Halloween drinks for the sake of my new blog and you guys! Next year I’ll be a little more organized for spookier and whimsical creations.

What’s Halloween looking like where you are? I’m at our house in Baja Mexico this year so it will be Dia De Los Muertos ( day of the dead); hmmm, it doesn’t sound very festive, does it? But it’s a beautiful quiet little town on the east cape of the gulf of Mexico, and looking forward to celebrating a holiday in another country. A parade, then a walk to the cemetery to bring food and beverages to the spirits of the deceased. Not for me though…eek. There is a new tradition where the ladies dress up like witches and go paddle boarding. Definitely for me!

Alternative Ingredients

  • First and foremost, use good-quality booze. It can make or break the taste and, in my case, give me a horrific headache. I would also use dark rum for the color and flavor; Meyers rum will create a sweeter drink.
  • If you only have Meyers Rum on hand or choose to use that, you could replace the grenadine with red food coloring. The Meyers Rum has a lot of sweet flavor notes, so you could leave out the grenadine, which is also sweet.

How To Make A Dracula’s Blood Cocktail

  • First and foremost, use good-quality booze. I can make or break the taste, and in my case, give me a horrific headache. I would also use dark rum for the color and flavor. Meyers rum will create a sweeter drink.
  • Add whiskey, rum, Kahlua, and grenadine to a cocktail shaker or a glass drink mixer. Shake or stir until mixed well, and pour over ice-filled glass. You could also serve this straight up in a martini glass with a cocktail cherry as a fancier alternative.

Super simple!

What’s Your favorite cocktail? Or are you a purist? I’m more or less a purist; just give me a glass of wine or a whiskey on ice. However, this time of year, there are so many holiday cocktails and drinks…even non-alcoholic ones! So, I’m branching out to test out my taste buds this year. I would love to hear what you like or want to try.

Cheers, and happy Halloween
