Healthy Green Goddess Dressing

This no-guilt dressing tastes amazing! Lightened-up with avocado oil and Greek yogurt, this healthy green goddess dressing will become your go-to dressing for everything! It’s creamy, bold, and fresh, not to mention vegan, gluten-free, and incredibly easy to make.

It’s been years since I’ve had or even made green goddess dressing. My mom always made it as a kid, and I loved it.
Well, I just recently decided to revisit this green goodness by making it and lightening it up. Greek yogurt replaces the mayo and sour cream, and my version uses a bit of honey to balance the tanginess and avocado oil instead of olive oil.
And right now, this dressing is making me so happy! With the hot days upon us, all I’m craving is salads and light and easy meals, and this dressing can accompany just about everything.

It’s seriously addicting, with all the flavors that wake up your taste buds: light, herby, tangy, sweet, and savory. YUM! My favorite salad with this dressing is a nice cool cobb salad!

You may notice there is no avocado in my version today… But you can add it! Just cut back on the avo oil, or opt for no oil, and add a bit of water to thin the dressing.

So, grab your blender and a handful of fresh herbs and whiz up your new go-to summer dressing…you’ll thank me later!

xx Teri

Ingredient Notes And Substitutions

Ingredients for green goddess dressing

Greek yogurt ~ can be plain, full-fat, low-fat, or fat-free. I use the Fage brand, fat-free; it’s thick and has the perfect tanginess. You can substitute mayo or sour cream or combine them with the yogurt.

Fresh herbs ~ lots of them, it’s what makes this dressing so tasty! Don’t be afraid to add more or less to suit your taste. I use basil, dill, parsley, chives, and tarragon.

Honey ~ is not a usual ingredient in a green goddess, but I love how it gives this dressing a sweet and savory taste. You can leave it out if you prefer.

Red wine vinegar & lemon juice ~ for a bit of zing and brightness. Feel free to add more or less to your liking. That’s what’s great about making your dressings.

Garlic ~ will give the dressings a kick and the perfect amount of savoriness that compliments all the other ingredients.

Green Goddess Dressing Is So Versatile!

Not just for salads! Here are some creative ways to incorporate this delicious dressing into your meals:

Veggies & Bowls ~ drizzle over roasted vegetables or a grain bowl for a nutrient-packed meal.

A vibrant dip ~ for fresh vegetables like carrots, celery, bell peppers, and cucumber slices. It’s a great way to encourage healthy snacking.

Sandwich Spread ~ sandwiches or wraps to add a creamy, herby layer that wakes up the flavors of your fillings.

Marinade ~ for grilled chicken, tofu, or shrimp. The acidity of the lemon juice helps tenderize the protein, while the herbs infuse it with delicious flavor.

Pasta Sauce ~ Toss the dressing with your favorite pasta for a quick and easy dinner. It’s also great for cold pasta salads. For a complete meal, add some roasted vegetables or grilled chicken.
